DR ADRIAN MAHER
Mater Hill Gastroenterology is delighted to introduce Dr Adrian Maher who will be joining our practice in 2024.
Dr Adrian Maher is an interventional gastroenterologist who specialises in diagnostic and therapeutic interventional endoscopy, as well as high quality screening procedures for the prevention of cancer.
Dr Adrian Maher graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Medical Science and a Doctor of Medicine. He received a University Medal and The Dean's Medallion, awarded to the Dux of Medicine. He has subsequently undertaken higher education, completing a Masters of Internal Medicine at The University of Sydney. He completed physician training at Toowoomba and Greenslopes Hospitals before completing specialist training in gastroenterology and hepatology at the Mater and Princess Alexandra Hospitals. Adrian then undertook a two-year fellowship in interventional endoscopy at the Princess Alexandra before undertaking an observership at Harvard Medical School, learning further advanced endoscopic ultrasound techniques including endoscopically guided liver biopsy, portal pressure gradients and variceal coiling.
Dr Maher has significant experience in interventional upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. This includes the management of Barrett’s Oesophagus, complex polypectomy and endoscopic repair of surgical complications. He has expertise in ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound and the complex endoscopic management of hepatobiliary disorders.
Dr Maher is currently a Lecturer with the University of Queensland and is actively involved in research and teaching medical students and training doctors. He is a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Queensland (GESQ) and Australia (GESA).
Dr Maher sees private patients at the Salmon Building offices of Mater Hill Gastroenterology and inpatients at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. He has a public employment at Mater Hospital Brisbane.
