Dr Mazhar haque
Dr Mazhar Haque is a senior gastroenterologist with a special interest in liver disease. He commenced his early years of medical training at the Mater Hospital South Brisbane in 2001. He completed his basic physician training in Queensland and undertook his advanced postgraduate training in gastroenterology at the Mater and Gold Coast Hospitals. He completed an 18 month hepatology and liver transplant fellowship at the Vancouver General Hospital in Canada. He joined the Mater Adult Hospital as a staff specialist in 2010 and since then has been involved in clinical trials for viral hepatitis.
Dr Haque also enjoys teaching and is heavily involved with the Mater Clinical School as third year MBBS medicine coordinator and Senior Lecturer of the University of Queensland. In 2017 he was awarded the UQMS teaching award for outstanding teaching of medical students.
Dr Haque practices general gastroenterology and performs gastroscopy, colonoscopy and other endoscopic procedures. Dr Haque provides regular FibroscanTM sessions, a non invasive liver scan to quantify fibrosis (scarring) of the liver.
Dr Haque consults privately with Mater Hill Gastroenterology and has regular sessions at the Mater Private Hospital Endoscopy Unit and Sunnybank Private Hospital.
